Facebook is one of the most well-known social media platforms around. Even Grandparents know about it! The creator of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, launched the platform when he was only 19. According to Forbes, as of November 2020 Zuckerberg's estimated net worth is around $102 billion (Forbes, 2020), making him one of the richest men in the world. He was a student at Harvard University, before dropping out to complete his Facebook project.
Many featured have been added to Facebook since its initial launch. The company has also bought many other social media sites, such as Instagram and WhatsApp, which are some of the most used social media platforms available (Shead, 2020). All of these adaptations to the company have made it more successful than ever. Whilst it was initially created as a site for young, university students to communicate and get to know each other, it has now become a platform that nearly all age groups have learnt to use and enjoy.
Below is a presentation showing the evolution of Facebook since its creation. It shows other companies Facebook has acquired, as well as its other features that have been implemented. Please feel free to click through and enjoy!
